Best Time to Visit

The months of October to March are considered as the best time to visit Orchha. It marks as the arrival of winter season in the city when the entire town experiences breathtaking views and pleasant atmosphere. Although the monsoon season are also the best to visit, but the town exuberant during the festive season of Dusshera and in winters as well. Summers are extremely hot and humid in the city, thus it is recommended to avoid traveling during this season.

Major tourist spots in Orchha

Orchha Fort

An ancient fort complex was built in 1501 by Raja Rudra Pratap Singh of the Bundela Dynasty. It shows an amazing fusion of Rajput and Mughal architecture with flamboyantly adorning latticed windows, balconies, and mirrors on ceilings. The complex of Orchha Fort houses several structures like Raja Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, and a huge garden area.

Chaturbhuj Temple

Dated back to 875 AD during the clan of the Gurjana Pratihara dynasty, Chaturbhuj Temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu and highly worshiped by devotees from over the city and its nearby areas. Its name of Chaturbhuj Temple literally means the one with four arms. The temple is also referred in many Hindu Texts.

Ram Raja Mandir

A majestic palace transformed as a temple devoted to Lord Rama from Ayodhya. This beautiful temple beholds an intriguing history behind its foundation. The idols that were supposed to be installed in the magnificent Chaturbhuj Temple were kept on the ground where the temple stands today.

Phool Bagh

The aesthetic beauty of Phool Bagh can overwhelm anyone. A huge garden complex encloses with fountains culminated in the 8-pillared royal palace pavilion. The subterranean structure below used to be the summer retreat of Orchha Kings.
