Also known as Pushkar Camel Fair or Pushkar Mela, the traditional fair is celebrated in a small holy town of Rajasthan - Pushkar every year in November at the month of Kartik Purnima. This 7 days colorful, unique exhibition is the World’s largest livestock trading fair that makes it grand in its own way. The carnival draws a huge gathering of thousands of livestock along with there traders, pilgrims, and tourists from all across the globe. Besides the trading activity, many other interesting competitions are organized to entertain tourists in multiple ways.

Dates of Celebration - Pushkar Fair 2020 will begin on 22 November and lasts till 30 November

Originally, the celebration of this fiesta is intended to attract local camel and cattle traders for trading their livestock during the holy Kartik Purnima Festival. Today, it has become one of the most attractive and popular grand events celebrated in Rajasthan on a large scale every year. With life oozing activities, classical music & folk dance performances, attractive stalls selling handicrafts and artifacts, bumpy camel safaris, and desert camping in well-equipped tents, are some of the most wonderful things about this fair. Pushkar Mela is India’s greatest tribal gathering event that offers once in a lifetime experience.

During the celebration, Hindu pilgrims from all across the state gather around the Pushkar Lake for a religious dip on the day of the full moon which is believed to be taking a special blessing that brings good fortune and wash off all the sins. Apart from being a major attraction of devotees, this carnival gathers around 50,000 livestock animals together at the event place.

Enjoying camel safaris or horse safaris is the most attractive activity to explore the sandy region of the vast Indian Thar Desert during the sunrise and sunset to capture its breathtaking views on camera. Also, the fun of getting on a hot air balloon ride is exceptionally a great one where you’ll relish the wonderful birds-eye view of the state and observe the sheer beauty of Pushkar.
